About A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
AI-generatedA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms takes readers back to Westeros nearly a century before the events of A Song of Ice and Fire, following the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his unlikely squire, Egg. Duncan is a humble hedge knight trying to make his way in the world, while Egg harbors a secret that could change everything about their wandering existence. Together they travel the Seven Kingdoms, encountering tourney grounds, treacherous nobles, and remnants of a dragon-filled past that still haunts the realm. This collection of three interconnected novellas explores themes of honor, friendship, and what it truly means to be a knight in a morally complex world. Unlike the sprawling political intrigue of Game of Thrones, these stories offer a more intimate, character-driven perspective on Westeros. The relationship between the good-hearted but occasionally dim Duncan and the sharp-witted Egg provides both humor and genuine warmth, making this an accessible entry point for newcomers while rewarding longtime fans with deeper context about the Targaryen dynasty and the history that shaped the world they know. It's a tale of chivalry tested, loyalty earned, and the bonds that form between the most unexpected companions.

I really enjoyed meeting characters I've read about in the Song of Ice and Fire series. It was sort of a slow read with plenty of blood and gore and political intrigue but nothing on the level of the other books. I'm happy I read it and any fan of the series would enjoy it, too, I think.
