About Magnate
AI-generatedEmmett Cavanaugh is a self-made Wall Street titan who clawed his way up from the streets of New York to become one of the city's most powerful financiers. When he needs to learn the finer points of high society to secure a crucial business deal, he hires the beautiful and financially struggling socialite Lizzie Sloane to tutor him in the ways of the elite. What begins as a straightforward business arrangement soon ignites into an intense attraction neither can deny, even as their different worlds threaten to keep them apart. Set against the glittering backdrop of Gilded Age New York, this historical romance explores themes of class division, ambition, and the transformative power of love. Shupe crafts a compelling dynamic between her leads—Emmett's rough edges and business acumen clash deliciously with Lizzie's refinement and her own hidden struggles. The novel appeals to readers who enjoy smartly written historical romances with strong chemistry, vivid period detail, and protagonists who challenge each other while navigating the rigid social expectations of 1880s high society. The financial intrigue of Wall Street adds an extra layer of excitement to this tale of passion between two people from opposite sides of the social divide.

Light, slow story. This sounds bad but it really isn't: it's a good book to read before bed. It's entertaining enough to keep your interest for however long you want, but it won't keep you awake.Tropes and themes: forced proximity, forced marriage, working women, troubled past, doubt and trust issues
