About The Summer House
AI-generatedIn this gripping thriller, Army Major Jeremiah Cook and his elite unit are arrested for a mass murder that took place in a remote village in Afghanistan years earlier. The sole investigator from that time, Sheriff Connie Sullivan of South Carolina's Sullivan's Island, believed she had closed the case—but new evidence has surfaced, and the Department of the Army is determined to bring Cook and his team to justice. As the trial approaches, Sullivan finds herself drawn back into the investigation, forced to confront what really happened during that fateful night overseas. What begins as a seemingly straightforward case quickly evolves into something far more complex and dangerous. Sullivan must navigate a web of military secrets, loyalty, and deception while uncovering truths that powerful people want to keep buried. The novel explores weighty themes of justice versus duty, the moral complexities of warfare, and the bonds forged between soldiers in combat. Patterson and DuBois craft a taut legal thriller that asks difficult questions about what happens when following orders conflicts with doing what's right, all while maintaining the page-turning suspense that keeps readers guessing until the final revelation.

Thriller with Crime Drama and Military. Well done narrative even with the multiple perspectives of the different characters. I really liked seeing the internal monologue of the lower ranked characters as they watch the main characters too. A lot of the twists and turns were expected so there was no suspense in that regards but overall a wonderful story.
