proper YA. super cute, multilayered puzzle hunt. Also, early parts of slow burn romance. The first 60% was captivating, following Avery's rags to riches story, learning the characters, exploring the mysterious house and its secret passageways, wondering what was truth and what wasn't. The climax wasn't as much of a pull for me--I was ready to move on to the conclusion before the puzzles were over. I hate to admit that I expected the common style of YA that's really meant for adults.
