Shady Hollow

In the charming woodland village of Shady Hollow, animals of all species live together in cozy harmony—until a body is discovered and their peaceful community is shattered. Vera Vixen, an intrepid fox reporter for the local newspaper, finds herself drawn into investigating the murder when she realizes the crime is more complex than it first appears. As she pursues the truth, Vera must navigate the intricate social dynamics of her neighbors, from the curmudgeonly toad who runs the coffee shop to the mysterious bears who live on the outskirts of town. This delightful cozy mystery combines the whimsy of classic animal tales with the intrigue of a well-crafted whodunit. The book explores themes of community, prejudice, and the assumptions we make about others based on their nature—literal nature, in this case, as predators and prey must learn to trust one another. Juneau Black creates a richly detailed world where species stereotypes are gently challenged and every creature has secrets to hide. Perfect for fans of cozy mysteries who appreciate a lighter touch and imaginative settings, "Shady Hollow" offers an engaging puzzle wrapped in charm and wit. The anthropomorphic cast adds whimsy without sacrificing genuine mystery, making this an ideal read for those seeking comfort and intrigue in equal measure.
