Testing

Testing follows Cia Vale, a high school student selected for a prestigious and mysterious government program that promises to transform her life and determine her future. Chosen from thousands of applicants, Cia enters a university where she and her peers must undergo a series of rigorous and increasingly dangerous tests designed to identify the best candidates for important government positions. However, as the testing progresses, Cia begins to suspect that nothing about the program is what it seems, and that the true purpose behind these trials may be far more sinister than she was led to believe. The novel explores themes of surveillance, manipulation, and the loss of individual autonomy in a society that prioritizes conformity and control. Charbonneau creates a tension-filled atmosphere where Cia must navigate complex social dynamics while questioning who she can trust and what she's willing to sacrifice for success. The story examines how institutions can exploit young people's ambitions and how easily fear can be used as a tool of power. What makes Testing compelling is its engaging premise that combines elements of a competition narrative with dystopian undertones. Readers will find themselves caught up in Cia's journey as she uncovers uncomfortable truths about the world around her. The book appeals to fans of psychological thrillers and dystopian fiction who enjoy protagonists that challenge systems of power, making it a page-turner that raises thought-provoking questions about authority and personal agency.
