Legends & Lattes

In Legends & Lattes, a retired adventurer named Viv hangs up her sword and settles into an unexpected new life: opening a coffee shop in a bustling fantasy city. After years of dungeon-crawling and monster-slaying, Viv discovers that building something peaceful and meaningful might be the greatest adventure yet. As she navigates the challenges of running a business in a world where magic and mundane commerce collide, she finds herself drawn to her talented barista and the quirky community forming around her cozy establishment. This charming novel beautifully blends the comfort of cozy fantasy with genuine emotional depth and a sweet sapphic romance at its heart. Baldree crafts a world where the trappings of epic fantasy exist alongside genuinely intimate character moments, creating a refreshing alternative to traditional high-stakes adventuring narratives. The story explores themes of starting over, finding purpose beyond violence, and discovering connection in unexpected places, all wrapped in the warmth of coffee, conversation, and found family. What makes this book particularly appealing is its celebration of domestic life and creative ambition within a fantasy setting. Rather than saving the world, Viv's quest is to create a welcoming space for others, and that quiet revolution proves just as rewarding as any quest. Perfect for readers seeking adventure with heart, LGBTQ representation that feels natural and joyful, and the satisfaction of watching someone build something beautiful from scratch.
