Claire Danes reads this translation which has more of a modern narrative telling of the story. I appreciate a lot of the key moments being told and the emotions Danes gives to characters especially with the cunning nature of Odysseus but I definitely can see the struggles of reading such an uneven text. Also I feel like some of his trickery is dumb just to keep him in character but what justifies Odysseus trickery from the suitors who want to trick Penelope? Just because Athena says so. Just some odd choices and pacing but I also get the significance of Homer doing something unique for the period. Danes was excellent and I enjoyed the translation being more modern in its structure without losing its imagery.
